We do saw some eastern white pine, as it becomes available. Besides the usual red and white oak, walnut, cherry, etc. I have a bit of oddities like hackberry, sassafras, honey and black locust , and locally grown softwoods like white pine, eastern red cedar, Norway spruce and ponderosa pine.


This makes getting usable lumber out of a trunk difficult or impossible. It turns a reddish brown when exposed to the air. The wood is often confused with Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera). It has a high density and decay resistance.
