It needs to be between ¼ inch and ½ inch thick, and you should use the trowel to work it firmly into the netting. Give the scratch coat one or two days to cure, then apply a second coat of approximately the same thickness. If a gallon of paint says it gives you 4square feet of coverage, assume you’ll cover 2square feet of stucco. Use either thin-sliced real stone or manufactured stone, which is a concrete material finished to look like real stone.


Practice by building a garden wall or planter box with stone veneer before tackling a wall. You need a ladder or scaffolding in most cases to reach the top of the wall. Measure from the floor to the the lowest point on the wall where you want to install the stucco stop.
