Penetrating oil is much more forgiving than a polyurethane finish. Ensure that you use a soft, dry cloth or towel. Once the suds are remove dry the wood gently and thoroughly. Allow the area where the spill was to air dry completely. However, if your floor has been previously treated with varnish, it will need sanding down to the bare wood before oil is applied.


Sweep away any dirt or dust, and clean the floor with a wood floor cleaning spray and microfibre cloth. Pro Tip: When doing future maintenance on your oiled floor and you need to get it done fast. This process is not difficult, though, and does not require a trained professional. After applying maintenance oil, you will notice a change in sheen level.


However, the floor will return to its original gloss level after a few days.
